FAQs

Corporate and commercial events often come with unique planning, venue, safety, customization, and production requirements. These frequently asked questions address the topics event planners, corporate teams, agencies, venues, and producers most commonly ask when considering a premium mobile animal experience. Fable works with event planners, companies, universities, hotels, venues, brands, production teams, private estates, and nonprofit organizations.

Our animal experiences can bring a sense of vibrancy and play, or calm grounding sensibility, depending on the event. They can be designed for employee wellness, brand activations, client events, campus programming, holiday celebrations, family days, hospitality events, editorial shoots, and large private events.

We can work directly with an internal HR or events team, or as part of a larger production led by an agency, planner, venue, or creative team.

Our experiences may include a gentle mix of small and medium-sized animals, such as miniature goats, sheep, bunnies, guinea pigs, ducks, chickens, and silkies, and, upon request, mini ponies.

The final animal mix depends on the event format, location, guest count, duration, weather, and the type of interaction you want to create.

We are selective about the animals we bring into guest-facing environments. Some animals—including pigs and alpacas—are purposefully not part of our standard experiences.

Yes. We regularly work with planners, producers, design teams, and art directors to make sure the experience feels cohesive with the larger event.

Depending on the project, customization may include:

  • Corral size and configuration
  • Animal selection
  • Signage and guest-facing language
  • Styling direction
  • Branded details
  • Florals, greenery, rugs, fencing, or scenic elements
  • Staff wardrobe direction
  • Guest interaction format
  • Photo or content moments

For heavily customized installations, we recommend involving us early so we can review what is safe, realistic, and comfortable for the animals while still supporting the creative direction.

Yes. We have created animal experiences inside homes, lofts, event venues, commercial spaces, covered structures, and other indoor environments.

Indoor events require an approved ground-covering plan and a clear load-in and load-out route. We will review flooring, access, elevators, stairs, ventilation, noise, temperature, and guest flow before confirming the best setup.

Not every indoor space is appropriate, but we are often able to make it work with advance planning.

The ground-covering plan depends on the venue surface and the level of finish required.

Options may include:

  • Heavy canvas or protective underlayers
  • Artificial grass or event turf
  • Rugs or decorative layers over a protective base
  • Other venue-approved flooring systems

For outdoor events, natural grass, dirt, decomposed granite, gravel, or small pebbles are generally preferable whenever available.

For indoor or hardscape installations, we determine the appropriate system based on the flooring, length of the event, weather, guest count, animal mix, and venue requirements.

For more customized installations, we can also explore higher-production options such as temporary sod, custom flooring, or fully styled scenic treatments. These are more involved and come at an additional cost, but they can create a beautiful, highly integrated result for the right event.

Our attendants monitor the space throughout the event and address animal waste as it occurs.

For indoor events and highly finished environments, we create a more detailed containment and cleanup plan in advance. At the end of the event, our team removes the animals, equipment, ground covering, and animal-related debris from the designated area.

We leave the experience footprint cleared of animal waste. Venue-specific janitorial, flooring restoration, or deep-cleaning requirements should be discussed in advance.

Every Fable experience is staffed by attentive animal handlers who understand both animal care and guest-facing hospitality.

We carefully select people who are:

  • Comfortable and confident with animals
  • Warm and approachable with guests
  • Able to interact naturally with both children and adults
  • Attentive without being intrusive
  • Aware of when to step in and when to allow the interaction to unfold
  • Comfortable working in high-touch, professionally produced environments

It is a particular mix of animal awareness, good judgment, warmth, and professionalism. Many of our attendants come from backgrounds in teaching, childcare, hospitality, animal care, and motherhood.

Staffing levels are determined by the size and format of the event.

Our experiences are designed for genuine, close interaction.

Guests may pet, sit with, feed, brush, or hold animals when appropriate. The exact interaction depends on the overall event environment.

At events with large numbers of very young children, we may limit or manage animal holding more closely. In most settings, respectful and gentle interaction is encouraged, with our attendants there to guide guests and protect the animals.

We choose animals specifically for their temperament and suitability for public interaction.

Our team monitors the animals and guest behavior throughout the event. We may pause an interaction, rotate an animal out, limit holding, or adjust the setup if an animal becomes tired or if the environment becomes too crowded or overstimulating.

Final approval of the animal mix and interaction format remains with Fable so that we can maintain appropriate safety and animal-welfare standards.

Children should remain under the supervision of their accompanying adult unless another arrangement has been specifically agreed upon.

Yes, we carry:

  • General liability insurance
  • Commercial auto insurance
  • Workers’ compensation insurance

Our general liability coverage includes limits of up to $1 million per occurrence.

We can provide a certificate of insurance and add organizations as additional insureds when requested.

Projects with unusual insurance language, higher limit requirements, waivers of subrogation, primary and noncontributory wording, or other specialized endorsements may require additional time and cost. Please share insurance requirements early in the booking process so we can confirm what can be accommodated.

Spring and fall are our busiest seasons, and weekend dates during those periods often book several months in advance.

Large events, indoor installations, branded activations, university programs, and projects with custom design or insurance requirements should be booked as early as possible.

Weekday events can sometimes be accommodated on shorter notice, and we are occasionally able to fit last-minute projects into the schedule. Availability depends on location, animal logistics, staffing, and the scope of the setup.

To begin, send us the event date, guest-facing hours, location, estimated attendance, venue surface, type of event, and any creative or insurance requirements. This can be done using our booking form. If your event is within the next week, please also follow up with us directly [email protected] or via phone or text at 626-535-3530.

Weather

For outdoor daytime events, shade is required. This may be provided by existing trees, umbrellas, or tenting. Heat and direct sun are especially important considerations for summer events. If the venue cannot provide adequate shade, Fable can bring and install shade for an additional charge.

Rain requires more advance planning. We cannot operate in active rain unless the animal area is fully covered and there is also a covered route for loading in and out. Wet grass can also become muddy during setup, so ground conditions may affect the final setup plan.

Lighting

For evening events, the animal area must be safely and comfortably lit. If lighting is not already part of the event design, we can provide corral mood lighting for an additional charge and discuss the best approach based on the setting.

Production effects

Most everyday event sound is manageable, including music, announcements, and normal guest activity. However, animal areas should not be placed immediately beside speakers, stages, or other sudden or intense production elements.

We review placement and production conditions in advance and may request adjustments when needed for animal comfort and guest safety.
